In 1976 Manfred Krug (Peter Lohmeyer), together with several prominent artists, signs a letter of protest against the expulsion of singer Wolf Biermann. After he taped a meeting with all signatories at his home, he is banned from profession by the SED government. From that moment on, his decision is made: He also wants to go to the Federal Republic.
