A Family Man is a film that drips with principles. It all looks a bit made and stiff, but it is not a bad film.

During the screening of "The Headhunter's Calling" at the Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada on September 14, 2016, Gerard Butler stated on the red carpet that he had a lot of fun working on this project. This made him want to live in Toronto again. Butler spent summers in Toronto as a teenager working for his father. His parents were divorced, and his mother lived across a pond in a souvenir shop on Queen's Quay. Butler was not only active as a lead actor, but also served as an executive producer. Mark Williams made his directorial debut with this. Screenwriter Bill Dubuque was a corporate headhunter for twelve years. He wrote the story for the film in November 2012 under the title "The Headhunter's Calling." This title remained in effect until the end of January 2017. In early February 2017, distributor Voltage Pictures renamed the film "A Family Man." Gerard Butler and Dustin Milligan were previously seen together in Butterfly on a Wheel. The film brings Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe back together for the first time since Spider-Man 2. Later they appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The story is quite simplistic. The main character usually has to make important choices that can affect his career and his family. We see the necessary struggles, reproaches, emotions, love and warmth passing by. This film is mainly due to the strong acting performances. Not the best of its kind, but certainly not bad.

3.0 *
