Russell Durrell, a lawyer and basketball coach at the local school, is responsible for raising his five-year-old son Calvin after his wife Kate deserted him. When Russell falls in love with a veterinarian's assistant Beth Ward, his ex-wife suddenly shows up. She wants to spend more time with her son and decides to stay in their village for a while.
