Union fürs Leben plot

"Not everyone who is a fan of Union is an enemy of the state, but every enemy of the state is a fan of Union" was a frequently heard statement in the former GDR. This is because the football club from the small Köpenick always stood for protest and resistance. Today, as professional football has grown into a multi-billion dollar business, they face an anti-commercial stance that denies the idea that football is an 'entertainment industry'. The documentary follows five very different people who have one thing in common: their love for 1. FC Union Berlin.
