In his characteristic poetic-essayistic style, Chris Marker pays tribute to the Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. The skeleton of the documentary is made up of home videos made shortly before he died of lung cancer in 1986. We see Tarkovsky on the set of what would become his last film, The Sacrifice.
