In 1981, college athlete recruiting was changed forever as a dozen major football programs awaited the decision of the strong and fast high school running back Marcus Dupree. On his way to break Herschel Walker's record for most touchdowns in high school, Dupree drew recruits from all the major universities to his hometown of Philadelphia, Miss. More than a decade away from the turmoil in the fight for equality, Philadelphia returned to the national spotlight. Dupree was aware of the attention and chose Oklahoma. What followed, however, was an unremarkable college career filled with conflict, injuries and inflated expectations. Filmmaker Jonathan Hock explores why this star died so young and how football has helped him make peace with himself.
