Sweet Salty Lao plot

This short, uncommented documentary is a report of a day in Ban Nateuy in Laos. This village lives from the salt extracted from salt mines. The working day starts when an empty truck arrives. In the evening he leaves again, filled with bales of salt. Largely chronologically, the camera records the daily routines of the people working in this artisanal salt industry. Men who scrape and drain the salt, women who fill ten-kilo bags by hand and make bales. The camera tells the story. The static images, the musical repetitive sounds of the machines and the chopping of the tools give an almost romantic image of a traditional branch of craft industry. At the same time, the harsh reality of heavy work for low wages is not ignored.
