Spitfire Women plot
Documentary revealing the remarkable story of British WWII female pilots. Between 1939 and 1945, 185 notable women were part of the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA), an organization that ensured the delivery of combat aircraft to British troops at the front. This was not without danger, one in ten ATA employees died during their work. With the help of archive material and the testimonies of the living women and their families, a picture is sketched of the work of these heroines. Their stories bear witness to courage and willpower, yet their role in the war has hardly been recognised. Only in 2008 were the women officially honored. Unfortunately for many of them it was too late.
