Rhythm Is It! plot
'Music is not a luxury. It's vital, just like the air we breathe and the water we drink.' For the inspired conductor Sir Simon Rattle, this is not a non-committal statement. Instead of limiting himself to safe successes within the walls of the concert hall, he prefers to seek out audiences that have never learned to experience the richness of classical music. The filmmakers follow him and his Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on a daring and ambitious project. The aim is to set up a dance spectacle around Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre Du Printemps with 250 Berlin children and young people from no fewer than 25 different countries. Most of them come from underprivileged families, normally listen to hip-hop and are as restless as they are insecure. It seems impossible, especially since choreographer Royston Maldoom has no more than 45 days until the premiere.
