Redemption plot
Portrait of three deserters from the American army who now live in Canada and talk about their memories of the Iraq war, which they see as pointless. "Even as I sit here, I can still smell burning flesh," says one of them. The memories are often indelible, no matter how much the young men would like it otherwise. If they could, they would reverse their decision to join the military. They tell about the methods used to ensnare soldiers. And we see how they live now: disillusioned, slumped on the couch, with a beer and a joint. In their early twenties, they seem to have lost much of their juvenile energy. The deserters also feel guilty. Not about their desertion, but about the fact that they participated in the war in Iraq at all.
