Rasael men Al Yarmouk plot
"Messages captured at the Yarmouk refugee camp in moments of extreme complexity; messages siding with life in the face of death; moments of love in a time of war and questions of homeland and exile."
On the outskirts of Damascus is Al Yarmouk, a neighborhood that emerged in the 1950s as an unofficial camp for Palestinian refugees. Since the start of the Syrian civil war, thousands of residents have fled - again. Those left behind live in abominable conditions. One of them is the young photographer Niraz Saeed. His girlfriend Lamis brings him into contact with Palestinian filmmaker Rashid Masharawi. The two decide to make a documentary about Al Yarmouk. Niraz supplies the images, Masharawi directs remotely, from Ramallah. The special working method is also part of the film. Masharawi, himself born in a refugee camp, meanwhile reflects on the cycle of displacement. How do the residents of Al Yarmouk, refugees for generations, relate to the Syrian war? What is home?
