Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliché plot
"Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard..."
Enchanting contrast: Poly Styrene, front woman of the English punk band X-Ray Spex, was able to scream her lungs out on stage about identity and social limitations. Poly Styrene, who passed away in 2011, was all contradiction. A quirky, original woman of color in a white man's world. She wrote songs on topics that were ahead of her time, refusing to conform to the feminine norm. Her life story is told in this documentary by her daughter Celeste Bell.
