Padurea de Molizi plot
This documentary explores one of the darkest chapters in Romanian history. Inspired by the tragedy of Fântâna Albă on April 1, 1941, the film reconstructs the fate of a Romanian community in Bessarabia, massacred during a desperate attempt to escape the Soviet occupation. The testimony of a genocide survivor forms the backdrop against which archival footage and his wife's memories of Siberia are projected, in a dizzying play of mirrors that questions the concept of historical truth and exposes forgotten traumas with potentially devastating consequences for the present.
