The less popular side of the war crime.

Because, with a few minor exceptions, war crimes are committed by the losing side. The winner washes his hands in innocence, and looks for some useful personnel among the losers - you never know when the next war will break out. Examples abound, and you really don't have to dig that deep into the last few major conflicts to find them - Barbie's lawyer certainly had a point when he based his argument on 'yeah but you here in France then, look at what happened in Algeria'. It's good that the judge ignored that, not of that.

The part about Barbie's actions in Lyon is short, which suits me just fine - the cabinet of horrors does not have to be played out to the full. Still quite shocking to find out that I passed the places of action countless times without being aware of anything - I wouldn't really sleep well in the hotel that is now located in the old 'Hotel Terminus'.

A good choice, as far as I'm concerned, to go into more detail about what came next. How the brave new world, with the US at the forefront, saw some use in a number of people who didn't care too much about rules and humanity. And perhaps that is also of all times - if we take a look at more recent history. Not that I want to make it an anti-America sentiment, because after all, the same thing happens just about everywhere. The saying goes that truth is the first casualty of war, but maybe it's morality.
