Mrs. Fang plot
In a modest room somewhere in a village in southern China, Fang Xiuying lies on her deathbed. She is surrounded by the indifferent chatter of family and neighbors. Deprived of all her intellectual abilities by Alzheimer's and her fragile body, she is marginalized and ignored. Only Wang's camera seems to care about Xiuying. Wang tries to trace her innocent expressions and look for a trace of humanity. He produces a picture of millennial culture being devoured by capitalism, where amnesia is a common condition and attitudes towards life and death have changed radically.
