Mes Voix plot
Anissa Kaki is a thirty-year-old Parisian theater maker and granddaughter of the Algerian Takia. In a performance, which she based on her own childhood memories, she evokes her grandmother's world. As she mimics the actions Takia used to prepare her mahjouba, she talks about its smell and taste—the taste Grandma's hands gave it, which changed when they started to lose their potency. In addition to a portrait of two women and their love for each other, Mes Voix also outlines the sometimes painful gap between generations and cultures.
