Maria, Maria & Marta plot
This short documentary follows three young Spanish women who come to Amsterdam from Seville to start a new life. The sisters Maria and Marta Robles and their girlfriend Maria Romero are street performers and perform as the flamenco group Mala Sangre. Maria (vocals), Maria (dance) and Marta (guitar) want to become famous, and use the street as a springboard to the theater. The documentary shows how the women seduce the audience with passionate and funny shows. In front of the camera they tell about their experiences as new-coming foreign and female artists in their favorite place, the Leidsplein. They also talk about the criticism of their self-composed songs. During the film, the trio has reached a difficult point: should they stop and go back to Seville, or do they want to professionalize seriously?
