Liberation Day plot
The ex-Yugoslav cult band Laibach has caused quite a stir since its formation more than 35 years ago. Not only the music, including infamous covers of 'Sympathy for the Devil' by the Rolling Stones, 'Live Is Life' by Opus and 'One Vision' by Queen, but also the striking visual language that the band uses and in which elements from military and industrial films and clothing are used, evoke both admiration and disgust. The band was even associated with Nazism. Ironically, Laibach receives an invitation from North Korea to play at the Independence Day festivities in the capital Pyongyang. The film follows the band members, their entourage and artist/concert organizer Morten Traavik from the day of arrival until the concert, interspersed with older video clips and news items.
