According to an old French law, gatherers have the right to collect the remains of harvests for their own use or for sale. Inspired by the nineteenth-century painting Les Glaneurs, which depicts three wheat-picking peasant women, the gatherers of the northern French potato fields and the southern vineyards are filmed.
