La Primera Mirada plot
In 1947, the Franco regime opened the first film school in Spain. Formally, the film school was founded to offer structured, professional film training, but the fascist state probably also wanted to keep an eye on the young talents. Against all expectations, it became a world full of freedom and experiments, according to many, especially when a different director was appointed from 1961 onwards. José Luis Sáenz de Heredia was one of the most complex and contradictory figures in Francoist cinema; an 'official' director, but also a free spirit.
