Kunst en Verzet plot

Documentary about the life and work of the Dutch sculptor Mari Andriessen (1897-1979). Central to the film are the nine war memorials that Andriessen made for various municipal authorities. Based on these monuments, of which De Dokwerker is undoubtedly the best known, the documentary aims to provide insight into the artist's personality and the development of his work. “Art and Resistance” shows how Andriessen's experiences during the war had an impact on his monuments and sheds light on his struggle with the theme of 'resistance'. The speakers include the artist's sons, a sculptor friend and an art historian. The film also shows parts of interviews with Andriessen.
