Jesus Was Here plot
The early history of Christianity is closely associated with Egypt. Long before the advent of Islam, a Christian community already existed in ancient Egypt: the Copts, still a significant minority in present-day Egypt. The historically tense relationship between Christians and Muslims has deteriorated in recent years; discrimination and sectarian violence increased. Interspersed with archive material, director Khairy gives a bird's-eye view of the history of the Copts. Writers, historians and clerics comment on political and social developments, especially since the revolution of 2011. An informative plea for religious tolerance and an overarching Egyptian identity.
