Heavy Metal Brittania plot
"Tracing the roots of Heavy Metal music within the UK."
In the late 1960s a number of British bands made a new sound. It was loud, it was loud, it was energetic, but it could also be dark. They wouldn't realize it then, but bands like Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath were bands that would bring the definition of heavy rock, and later heavy metal, into the world. Inspired by blues, rock, progressive rock, classical music and energetic American rock, groups like Judas Priest would further define and broaden the genre during the 1970s. In the 80s the genre got a bad name due to drug and alcohol abuse, but then a new wave came: the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal), or the British heavy metal worn by pioneers such as Iron Maiden. This is the story of a genre that changed the music world, a genre that renews itself several times, the story of a combination between Britten and loud music.
