Food Coop plot
Nice hotspot in Brooklyn: the Park Slope Food Coop, a supermarket where you can buy the most delicious things at low prices. But beware: if you want to do your shopping in the Food Coop, you also have to work there. After all, the Food Coop is a cooperative supermarket: the customers are also the owners, and those who want to become a member are obliged to keep things running for two and a half hours a month. In addition to being a fascinating social experiment, the Food Coop is also – by American standards – quite a unique economic system: most products come from local farmers; the edibles are always fresh daily; and the waste is neatly composted.
