First to Fall plot

Two friends leave a quiet life in Canada in 2011 to return to their native Libya. Hamid, 26, and Tarek, 21, have never held a rifle at the time, but nevertheless rush to the front, fueled by their distaste for Muammar Gaddafi and their desire to become part of history. Once in Libya, their experiences vary widely. Hamid goes to war with fervor and soon finds his place in the boyish camaraderie of the rebels. Tarek, on the other hand, is more introspective and insecure, and anything but a natural born soldier.
