Fassbinder: At Elske Uden at Kræve plot

Rainer Werner Fassbinder was probably Germany's most important post-war director. His quick and dramatic death at the age of 37 in 1982 left a vacuum in European cinema that has yet to be filled. Since 1969, Danish director and film historian Christian Braad Thomsen has had a close yet respectfully distanced friendship with Fassbinder. The film is based on his personal memories, as well as a series of conversations and interviews he had with Fassbinder and his mother Lilo in the 1970s. In addition, the film contains current interviews with Irm Hermann and Harry Baer, who were both close to Fassbinder.
