Solntse plot
In the summer of 1945, the Japanese Emperor Hirohito addresses his people. He instructs them to stop the war and surrender to the Allies. This allows the Americans to arrive on Japan effortlessly without resistance, saving many lives. America orders Hirohito to appear before a military tribunal. In the run-up to this trial, General MacArthur has extensive discussions with the Emperor. He is impressed by the man who is officially the God-sent leader of Japan, but in reality is deeply involved with his subjects.
