Draumalandið plot
Iceland is attractive for green energy investors. This provides the sparsely populated country with a lot of money, but is at the expense of nature conservation. For example, the American company Alcoa has persuaded the Icelandic government to sacrifice a large part of the east of the island for 'green' aluminum production. Landscape, vegetation, animal life and agriculture are lost. Environmentalists think it is criminal and left-wing economists argue that it is not about constructive growth, but a short-term recovery of the economy. Nevertheless, the authorities are keen on such plans, even when it comes to a company like Alcoa, which is active in the US arms industry. The film is an ode to the endangered landscape: beautiful helicopter shots of a breathtaking, rugged area, with waterfalls, vast green steppes and geysers.
