Double You Street plot

The artists' initiative W139 is housed at number 139 in a former squat on Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam. Founded in 1980, this platform for young talented artists turns against the official art world and finds its inspiration in music and on the street. In Double You Street, fifteen young filmmakers portray the artists who have been important for the history of W139 in different ways. The portraits, in the form of a video clip, mini-documentary or cinematographic poem, are interspersed with interviews (with Rob Scholte and Peter Giele, among others), archive footage and recent film material.
