Diamond Dust plot
80% of the rough diamonds and 40% of the polished diamonds in the world are traded in Antwerp. But the traditionally Jewish diamond trade is under pressure. The industry is gradually moving from Jewish hands to Indian hands. A battle between quality and quantity, craftsmanship and trade. In Antwerp, the diamond trade has always relied on mutual trust, personal contacts and family ties. Deals are made verbally and diamond dealers store stones in each other's vaults without a contract or inventory and ship the stones to dealers who buy them without seeing them. However, with the arrival of the Indians, this order has been disrupted. The Indian course of action is faster and more mass-produced. The film shows how, under these circumstances, the various diamond dealers, polishers and buyers conduct their trade in the closed Antwerp diamond trade.
