De Tweede Kamer plot
Due to the openness that Dutch politicians wanted to observe, filmmaker René Roelofs finally received permission in the spring of 2002 to make a film about the day-to-day affairs of the House of Representatives and he could start filming in the back rooms of The Hague. He started about the moment Pim Fortuyn was murdered and politically The Hague was turned upside down by the LPF's monster victory. In the two-part documentary, Roelofs follows the daily work of various MPs, including the newcomers Philomena Bijlhout and Firoes Zeroual of the LPF and the seasoned MPs Theo Rietkerk (CDA) and Agnes Kant (SP). And he is with his camera at the meeting of the group secretaries who, among other things, have to decide on the place of the MPs in the meeting room of the House of Representatives. In the meantime, the facilities department is looking into the division of the fraction rooms and the offices of the MPs, which costs a lot of headaches and a lot of moving boxes.
