Class Divide plot
“Class Divide” shows the West Chelsea neighborhood in the lower center of midtown Manhattan. The neighborhood had already seen an influx of the upper middle class over the past quarter century. But since 2009, with the opening in successive phases of the High Line, the Green Airway, and the park built on the old New York Central railroad tracks, hypergentrification has been underway. One luxury apartment building after another has been or is being built along the High Line, which has become one of New York's top ten tourist attractions.
