Brats plot

"What did it mean to be part of the Brat Pack?"

In the 1980s, Andrew McCarthy was part of a young generation of actors ready to take over Hollywood after a series of successful teen films. But when New York Magazine dubbed them the Brat Pack in 1985, budding stars suddenly lost control over the course of their careers. Now, nearly forty years later, McCarthy is reconnecting with peers and co-stars - including Demi Moore, Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez - so they can reflect together on their respective legacies.

Interesting but somewhat limited documentary in which actor Andrew McCarthy tries to find out what exactly happened after he and other very successful peers were named the Brat Pack in 1985. The sympathetic McCarthy, who also directs the documentary, is a bit repetitive here and there and he lingers negatively in and on the past, but it is nice to see his encounters with Demi Moore, Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez, among others .

This is a bit of a difficult story. I can still remember the Brat Pack era vividly and everyone naturally wanted to be part of it or be them, but McCarthy experienced it as a very negative mark that negatively affected his entire career and therefore life.

It feels like a kind of therapy documentary in which he relives everything and wants to talk to the main characters from that time. It seems like something he has not been able to let go of all these decades.

This makes it a sad event, despite the fact that the documentary is certainly a nice trip down memory lane. You're actually shouting at the screen like come on man! do not overreact. You were on top of the world and one piece of fluff got you off your feet? Be glad you didn't become famous in this day and age...
