Blindsight plot
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas, 'Blindsight' follows the gripping adventure of six Tibetan teenagers as they attempt to climb Lhakpa Ri, a 23,000-foot ridge on the north face of Mount Everest. A perilous journey quickly becomes a seemingly impossible challenge when you consider that the teenagers are blind. Tibetans believe that the blind are possessed by demons, causing the children to be shunned by their parents, despised by their villages and rejected by society. Rescued by Sabriye Tenberken - a blind educator and adventurer who founded the first school for the blind in Lhasa - the students invite the famous blind mountaineer Erik Weihenmayer to visit their school after hearing the stories of his conquest of Mount Everest. Erik moves to Lhasa and inspires Sabriye and her students Kyila, Sonam Bhumtso, Tashi, Gyenshen, Dachung and Tenzin to let him lead them to a place higher than they have ever been. The 3-week journey goes further than they could ever have predicted.
