Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride plot

In this documentary, we follow Ken Coolen—president of the Vancouver Pride Society—for a year as he visits multiple Gay Pride events. He travels to countries where there is significant opposition to these events, such as Poland, Hungary, Russia, and Sri Lanka. At the same time, in North America, the parades threaten to increasingly be viewed in the light of commercialism and tourism. The film examines political aims, such as human rights, that can be linked to the parades.
