Beuys plot
Thirty years after his death, Joseph Beuys gave the impression that he was a visionary, way ahead of his time. He was the first German artist to have a solo exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, while back home in Germany his work was often derisively labeled the 'most expensive garbage of all time'. He was once asked if he was indifferent to such comments and he replied, "Yes. I want to expand people's perception." Andres Veiel lets the artist speak for himself. He creates an associative, porous portrait from previously published audio and video material that, like the artist himself, opens up space for ideas rather than just paying attention to his statements.
