Berliner Tagebuch plot
Berliner Tagebuch is a visual record of Rosemarie Blank's observations of Berlin, the city of her origin. From the feeling that she was never quite at home anywhere, and her memories of Berlin from her past, she tried to find out why many foreigners feel so at ease in Berlin. With this in mind, the filmmaker came into contact with Arabs, Turks and Kurds who live in the city. In addition, in this documentary she has encounters with musicians and other artists of life who have come from elsewhere and for whom the German capital is a source of inspiration, which offers them the opportunity to build up an independent existence. Rosemarie has explained how this group of people can live and survive in this European Metropolis in this Berlin day-to-day experience. The encounters always took place in public space such as in the U-Bahn or S-Bahn, often spontaneously without knowing who the filmmaker was facing. The film is a voyage of discovery to Rosemarie Blank's Berlin herself and to the question of where you actually are at home.
