Art and Craft plot
"He puts the artist in con artist."
Mark Landis is one of the most prolific art forgers in American history. His body of work spans thirty years, including painting styles and periods that include 15th-century icons, Picasso and even Disney. And while the copies fetch impressive sums on the open market, Landis isn't in it for the money. Impersonating an anonymous donor, an executor of a family member's last will, and more recently as a priest, Landis has donated hundreds of his works to a range of impressive American institutions. But after duping Matthew Leininger, the latter discovers the decades-long list of forgeries and wants to make him known to the art world.
