Appunti per un'Orestiade Africana plot
In this film Pasoloni ventures to the Greek tragedy Oresteia by Aeschylus (525-456 BC). Pasolini transposed the story to the Africa of his own time. In the emerging states (then) he looked for political figures who deserved a role in the play: a modern Agamemnon (in ancient times the king of Mycenae), an Orestes (Agamemnon's son), Clytaemnestra (Agamemnon's wife), etc. In the film, he assumes two constants: the actual story and its mechanisms, the suggestion of the faces and the natural environment. The Trojan War is symbolized by images of the Biafran War.
