Bad movie. After 10 minutes you know that the black killer will be innocent and saved. It's an American movie after all. And then all that adultery stuff and also young women with a much older man. Quite unbelievable. And what does it add to the story? It's not a thriller, but drama and that's how it becomes melodrama. There is some crying.

What a bad screenplay and what bad lyrics. You can't act against that. It might be nice that Clint is in the film with his own daughter.

And yes, it also ends with Christmas. Some American sugary sweet. Eastwood unworthy of this movie.

Like a western in a different way.

The roles are nicely divided between good and bad, you know in advance how it will end, the moral is clear and straightforward. Familiar territory for Eastwood, and as almost always he makes a pleasant and interesting film out of it. And he himself plays the only role that gets a bit of a nuance. That is also entrusted to him.

Furthermore, well, it is of course not very credible. But that is not necessary for this genre.

Just enough. What I liked was the dialogues in the newspaper office and… that was about it. The build was excruciatingly slow with the emphasis only on portraying Steve negatively. The film couldn't really talk about anything else because from the opening title it was clear how the story would end. OK, there were some sad scenes in the prison to add to the drama. Unlike the rest of the film, the ending was rushed in a few minutes. It's like 'we've worked on this movie long enough, let's put an end to it'. Too bad, the story would have been good for something much better than what I've seen now.
