The Invisible Power plot

Ex-con Sid Chambers wants to start a new life with teacher Laura Chadwick. He is harassed by Detective Mark Shadwell, who is looking for one of his former associates. When Sid refuses to cooperate, Detective Shadwell sends him back to prison under false pretenses. His wife Laura, meanwhile, is terrified that their child will grow up in disarray and she gives him up for adoption. When Sid is released, he vows revenge on Shadwell. He doesn't know that the detective adopted his child.
