"A righteous man before me stands. A hero in these filthy lands. A brother in arms in heart are you. I was really hoping you get it too."

The two top actors Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino play together here, just like in Heat. Here, however, they are not each other's enemy but each other's colleague. They do a good job, but they are certainly not at their best.

The film sometimes looks a bit cheap and it isn't very special either. But it's certainly not bad and the story can go on. Also my compliments for the ending.

The film was cut short because the test screening of the 2-hour original version was received very negatively, especially with the comment that it was too long. I think it's a good adjustment because the fast(er) tempo does add something.

A run-of-the-mill buddy cop thriller that's gotten more attention than it deserves because of its two lead actors, and I also doubt that the ridiculously heavy supporting cast would have been possible without the presence of De Niro and Pacino. Of the two, I've always found De Niro to be the greatest (because of –my personal favorites from his filmography– Novecento, The deer hunter, The king of comedy[/ i] and especially the ultimate seventies film [i]Taxi driver), but I can't bear to see that dogged mouth of his anymore, while Pacino still has such a focus in his playing, his voice and especially can put his eyes on the fact that he still makes almost every film worthwhile. Because of its contribution, this film still gets a small pass from me, but otherwise this is a bit of mediocrity incarnate if you ignore those two legendary names above the title. Let's hope The Irishman gives them both an opportunity to get revenge.

Measured by the amount of rubbish that is being made nowadays, I still come up with a more than sufficient. In particular, the dialogues and the well-known cursing of De Niro and Pacino still stand out to me. For the rest, this film babbling along, at a certain point you start to doubt your first idea about the perpetrator. Predictable, but that's the intent. Great movie.
