Le Gitan plot
The gypsy Hugo has escaped from prison and is now committing bank robberies with two accomplices. The police are after them, but the trio always manages to stay one step ahead of them. A jewel thief, Yan Kuq, is also on the run and goes into hiding in a hotel, where Hugo and his friends are also. The police storm the hotel, but Hugo manages to escape. Later, Hugo and Yan meet again, but the police still doggedly hunt the two men.

The life of a gypsy. Alain Delon also produced himself. The film paints a sad picture of gypsies who are banished to the outskirts and ruins for a short stay. Delon is a free-spirited man with an ideal in confrontation with the established order. Meurisse is a good opponent who also walks a somewhat different path. All in all, typically French and just below average for Delon.
