Roger Sartet, a convicted criminal, escapes from prison and then helps Vittorio Manalese's Sicilian Mafia family steal a batch of precious gems. Very good crime film, but I don't really see the masterpiece in it that many seem to see in it. I think it would have been different in the hands of Jean Pierre Melville. The score is of course very strong, but is too often repeated. Nevertheless, a strong crime film.

Wonderful film adaptation of the book by Auguste Le Breton (Rififi), a master of crime novels. Sublime acting by the golden trio Jean Gabin (you recognize that voice out of thousands), Lino Ventura and Alain Delon and a beautiful soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.
Timeless entertainment.
