Well done, but if Get Carter didn't have strong actors like Mickey Rourke, Michael Caine and of course Sylvester Stallone, I probably would have only given it two stars. The plot is decent, but too unoriginal to really compete with other crime/action movies. Too little happens. Rourke's character describes it perfectly in the movie: "you're chasing your ass, Carter". That's exactly what two-thirds of the film is about. Stallone has made better movies. This one isn't bad, but nowhere really interesting.

Worse than I thought. Especially the camera work, acting and sound are worthless. Very unnecessary remake, Mr. Caine should not have appeared in this print.

Get Carter is a stylish action thriller and a remake of the movie of the same name from 1971 in which Michael Caine (now seen in a supporting role) still played the lead role. This time, Jack Carter is played by Sylvester Stallone (with bearded ring and tailored suit), a tough boy who, at the behest of the mafia, makes defaulters change their minds. However, he heads to Seattle to track down his brother's killer. There he ends up in a strange, gray world where he tries to find the true facts behind the facts...

But contrary to what you would expect from a Stallone film, the action never really breaks loose. Instead, we get an atmospherically crafted quest for revenge and redemption. With inventive camera work and sad settings (it almost always rains) they also portray the personal search for a second chance of a tormented Carter.
