Very nice film, Dreyfuss in top form, a pity that the criminals come across as a bit "slapstick". 3.5*

Nice film in which two cops have to keep an eye on the ex-girlfriend of an escaped convict. An entertaining action-comedy with a standard story, which is a bit on the long side. The relationship between the ex-girlfriend and one of the officers makes for fun situations and is immediately the best part of the film. Richard Dreyfuss is doing just fine here. A good 3.0 stars.

The day before yesterday I looked up an old film namely Twelve Monkeys (1995), also with Madeline Stowe - and therefore got the idea to make the Stakeout films just look it up. Was some dust on the DVD, because this century has not yet touched.

And well, what can I say. Where Twelve Monkeys survives without a problem, this one is a bit disappointing. Perhaps not so much because the film is insufficient - because nowhere does it pretend to be anything other than an entertaining police film. And Estevez and Dreyfuss are pretty fun as a bickering couple, and Stowe comes out almost even more beautiful than in Twelve Monkeys.

Mary, it is. Furthermore, a somewhat hasty and sloppy film, a little sloppy with the production values, just a bit too lame jokes. And I might have overlooked that a little more easily in the last century than I do now. And then there's a second part of it too... which I remember wasn't any better. I'll see if I can still find that DVD.
