Mike Lambert, a fired mining engineer, finds himself stuck in a small town with car trouble. In the local cafe he meets the seductive Paula. When he gets into trouble with the law and is arrested, Paula pays his bail and provides him with a room. Mike must guess her true motives, however, as her actions remain mysterious, even if he later finds work at the mines and has to team up with one Jeff Cunningham.
