El Aura plot

Forty Espinosa is a professional 'setter' of dead animals, that is, he repairs their skin and fills them up. Espinosa, who also suffers from seizures, one day brings a stuffed fox to a wildlife museum, where he encounters his colleague Sontag, pretty much the lonely Espinosa's best friend. During a chat, Espinosa reveals to his friend the idea of committing the perfect heist. When the two later go hunting and accidentally shoot someone, this idea suddenly becomes very realistic...

Beautiful film that put me in a trance for two hours. Yes, the pacing is slow, and that's part of the entire design of the film. Because you first have to know the story in which the main character suddenly ends up and starts to play a role.

Take an epileptic taxidermist who has a formidable memory and fantasizes about committing the perfect crime. When he goes hunting with a buddy for a weekend in a remote area, the opportunity arises to make this fantasy come true.

Bielinsky provides beautiful images and an absorbing atmosphere. The story may be quite simple, but I had no idea how events would evolve and that led to some surprises, especially towards the successful ending. Darin successfully carries the film on his shoulders and plays a strange man, difficult to describe and understand. In the end you have to wonder if he is a criminal or just an opportunist? Or maybe everything you see is made up? I really think it's worth a discussion Then there is that dog, a silent witness, with his sharp look.

It is difficult to find any negative points in this beautiful film, but I only wanted the ending to be a little more intense and tighter. Definitely see it, because this is surprising cinema. Too bad Bielinsky has passed away in the meantime

"He" looks a bit stupid, rather helpless and indecisive, but in the meantime his brain makes the most ingenious connections, he puts the pieces of the puzzle in the right place and he cleverly and willingly integrates himself into a criminal plot.
I'm not a fan of violent crime films, but I liked this one.
"He" is also inscrutable and that means that the film does not fall into easy predictability and remains fascinating and exciting.
Could it be that the undertone contains some satire on those American films in which their superheroes are certainly super intelligent, but also behave that way in all areas, including a confident, radiant appearance?
Any. I thought "El Aura" was well made, acceptable in theme and enjoyable as a whole.

Ricardo Darin. One of my favorite South American actors, by far the most famous I think, in terms of name and appearance. Here as Esteban, a somewhat introverted lanky taxidermist. Nice opening scene, by the way, when we see him working with a lot of precision and love for the profession. Very intellectual and blessed with a photographic memory, he fantasizes about what it would be like to commit a robbery.

And he gets that chance, not so much because it is all planned, but because he literally rolls into it by chance by crossing the path of some criminals. Due to a stupid accident there is no way back. Quite entertaining and well depicted. Nice acting too, especially from Darin. Not a masterpiece, but just very solid.

Fascinating and entertaining, but just that little bit too little for me to fully immerse myself in the film.
