Rafael Belvedere, 42, a successful businessman, runs the Italian family restaurant in Buenos Aires. He can barely handle his busy life of negotiating with suppliers and telephones. He is easily irritated and loses interest in his beautiful girlfriend Nati. He feels guilty because he doesn't visit his elderly mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's and stays in a care institution. His ex-wife accuses him of not spending enough time with his daughter. In short, he is in the midst of a midlife crisis. When he suddenly has a mild heart attack, he realizes that he will have to set other priorities in his life.

Just like pieter_kerkhof, I also thought of Suarez when I saw the main character. A film that relies heavily on the interactions between the characters. That also comes across as sincere, and in certain cases is also quite moving, especially when it comes to the old couple.

Unfortunately, the film does have some sad moments, and visually the film is also quite barren. I remember one moment, with the intercom, but otherwise very little happens visually. Too bad, because that sometimes helps to get through the moments that are a bit more boring from a plot point of view.

Because the film is not completely captivating in terms of plot, the score is rather low. 1.5*.

Beautiful film that I am sure is not the only one who misled me with the title, because with such a title you expect an average comedy, and this film is far from average and certainly not popcorn entertainment. The title does not describe the meaning of this film at all. It is known as one of the best Argentinian films, and with this direction (Campanella) and top cast you couldn't go wrong. Darín plays strongly as always and Norma Aleandro (as grandma) and Héctor Alterio (as grandpa) manage to move. This is not a comedy but a variation on Amourwith a comic note.

In the film, we see Darín's character as a divorced man in a midlife crisis, with a mother (Norma Aleandro) suffering from Alzheimer's, and a girlfriend and part-time daughter who don't get the attention they should. The latter two roles are also played very strongly and realistically. The script and dialogue deliver countless beautiful moments that sometimes leave you with a lump in your throat, such as when grandma goes back to the retirement home where she forgot she was placed and then says: "I won't leave grandpa here behind".

Beautiful film, the two hours flew by. 4.5*

I usually like oldies and also Ricardo Darin. The latter is compared here with Luis Suarez, he indeed has something of that, but I had never made the link. Perhaps because I think very highly of Darin and really consider him to be a great actor.

Somehow I never really got into the movie here. It's hard for me to explain why. I am used to Darin in a more serene role, but here I found him extremely busy due to his role. The older couple is indeed adorable.

It's all a bit cliché. I saw more moving films about dementia.
