Another great film by Guillaume Canet and the third in a row that goes for at least four stars for me. Blood ties excels above all because of the strong cast, the perfect tempo and the good structure in my opinion. In addition, director Canet apparently liked to shoot records earlier very nice because the choice of music is again very good and again provides a clear added value. As far as the actors are concerned, I had some trouble with Clive Owen in the beginning (he reminded me a lot of that brother from 'Everybody loves Raymond) but when he his criminal activities, which started to increase, luckily disappeared quickly. Crudup was also perfectly fine and the supporting roles were absolutely delicious. Caan did well as a father, Schoenaerts made an impression despite his very limited screen time and the role of I personally found the well-known tattoo artist Mark Mahoney as Louis very funny. And because of the excellently created image of the time, they were also each provided with a beautiful appearance. which was emphasized even more by the beautiful and atmospheric camera work. The same actually applies to the story, which is well put together and never comes across as forced. Originally I wanted to go for four stars with Blood ties, but because of the fantastic ending I still add half at.Small masterpiece.
